It begins again

As most blogs go, this one is probably the most sparse I've seen. Living life makes me realize just how much effort it  takes to be purposeful in communication. Recently things have begun to change for me, so I'll hopefully be able to begin posting again.

Before I go full bore into it though, let's talk about what updates have happened since the last time I posted.
1. I'm done with college; graduated with a BS in Computer Science
2. I married my college sweetheart and have been happily married for the past 5.5 years
3. We have a 5 year old girl and a 2 year old boy (hopefully pictures will be forthcoming soon)

With most of that out of the way we can discuss what's going to be posted here. Initially I envisioned this as a central place to talk about my missionary journeys and how God is guiding my life. I don't see why that can't still be the case. God has called us to be salt and light [Matt 5:13-16]. To spread His gospel throughout the world as we go [Matt 28:16-20]. That even covers the white collar middle management types, not just those that forsake all the societal norms and set out. Scheduling these updates is still to be determined. I'll attempt to handle them at least once a week, just as a challenge to myself. I'd like to begin Journaling, if not for myself, for my kids.

I struggle sometimes wondering what kind of legacy I'm leaving behind with these little ones. Will they understand the Savior their daddy kept talking about? Will they follow in the footsteps even though they seem to be difficult and they don't understand? How will they know how special they are, unless it's recorded? Now, not everything will end up on the blog, but my hope is that I'm brave enough to post a good portion of my heart here.

That's it for now. I'll be keeping a lot of the old posts here for posterity's sake, and because I'm a bit of a sentimental person. I don't mind removing things if it's in the way, but as it stands it's just text on the internet, so no harm in keeping it around.

New Calendar

I'm finally going to start following some of the local sporting events here in Louisiana. I've never been one to actually follow any kind of sports, mainly because I'm not really good at any of them. Hopefully through this experience I'll be able to relate better to those around me since I'm in a huge college football town. I've also been a huge Saints fan since birth, so I've only partially followed them... well, I've heard when they won and lost and celebrated both if that counts.

You'll see to the right a small gadget that has sports schedules listed on it. I'll try to keep that calendar updated with information on what I'm following.

God Bless.

New Posting

Wow, it's been a while since I've posted here. A lot has changed in my life. Got a job in Baton Rouge with Health Insurance, upgraded my relationship status to Married :-D. Anyway, I'm at work so I'll upgrade this later. I found a new way to be able to update this via email so it might get the updates it deserves. Still going strong in the Faith.

Setbacks

Well, I thought it was going to be an easy thing to keep moving forward with blogging. Guess I don't have that much to really write every day. Things happen and life moves forward. I guess it's a perspective thing. Can one really look back upon his/her own life and think that it is more interesting than another? There are many who are over seas fighting the Good Fight, battling with Satan every day on the front lines. I know many of them personally. There are men and women across the nation that go on college campuses just to spread the Good News to college students who are away from parents and finally asking the questions about who they are and what eternity will be like. I am a programmer at the largest health insurance provider in the state. A state where every person you talk to knows about Christ, claims to know Him personally, and don't need you to tell them where they're deficient because "don't point out the spec in your brothers eye when there's a log in your." Well, perseverance is what I have to conjure up now. Just keep pressing onward and upward. I know it seems trivial. God continues to strengthen me, even through what I consider the non-trivial pieces. He's always there and faithful to me. I will continue on as long as He gives me strength. I couldn't do it without Him. Mizpah

Continued...

Well, I've been here in Baton Rouge for over a month and have been enjoying myself. I've been able to see my fiance almost every day since coming back and that has made the move completely worth it. There was a time when I wondered if moving back was the best idea. I wondered if God really desired me back here where I would feel the most comfortable. Luckily for me I haven't felt that comfortable. Life has been coming at me like a freight train and I don't know how to handle all of it. Got the job, a fiance (trying to plan our wedding together), family, and soon-to-be in-laws. There has also been a big disconnect between me and my studies. I just don't have the energy most of the time or I don't have the desire at the time. Please pray for me. I need the study time and the desire. This is short but needed. I will continue...

Life needs to slow down...

Well, I was reading a comic this morning and remembered that I had a blog sitting out here, neglected, alone, probably unread by the masses. Well, hopefully someone has subscribed to the feed a while back and cares about this nameless face.
So life has come pretty fast for me lately.
Looking through some of my old posts I've been neglecting this one for a little over a year. Let's get some catching up going.
One-Word: Last year I sent an email asking for one word to describe me to friends/family/etc. Here's what they said...
Crazy; Talkative; Intelligent; Kind; Friend; Goofy; Caffeinated; Bear-Huggable; Fun; Continuously-Energetic; Straight-Forward; Priceless; Perceptive; Wacky
I don't know if I'd be so nice. Thank you all for responding. Sometimes it's neat to evaluate yourself with your surroundings. We all have our quirks about us and we sometimes don't always see them as bad. Recently my fiance told me that my sarcastic humor hurt her feelings on a few things... ouch. I sometimes get so far ahead of myself that it can hurt those I love the most.
Update:
I'm living back in Red Stick, La and got meself a job with BCBSLA. It's different but good. I'll be getting married in Sept '09 and can't wait. I'll try to keep this blog more up to date... I think I've said that before. Oh well, life comes at you fast and you can't slow it down. You just have to keep up. It should be easier because I've got a laptop back. Love you guys.
Keep your eyes on Him!
Mark 6:22
"The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light."

One Word

Some people got this email recently:
I normally don't like to do these kinds of thing but this peeked my interest far too much. I'll post the results in a few weeks if most people reply at http://brianhall517.blogspot.com/ . I picked you all because you are friends and loved ones that have known me from years past all until today. Please be honest.

The Game is on !!!

Describe me in one word.... just one single word. Send it to me, and
to me only. Then send this message to all your friends and see how many
strange & interesting things they say about you. This is really fun.

I extend this to those that read this blog. If you have known me, met me, seen me, whatever. Think of one word and leave it in a comment or email it to bhall517@hotmail.com. I'll be posting all of the words in another post in a week or so. Depending on when everyone gets back to me. Don't worry, I won't be posting names beside words. I'm just interested at the outcome. Be as honest as you want to be.
